MURI: Tunable III-Nitride Nanostructures for N=N and C-H Bond Activation

Vision Statement:

The objective of this MURI program is to provide a fundamental theoretical and experimental
understanding of dilute anion III-N nanostructures, e.g., Ga(In)NX with X for P, As, Sb, and Bi, and their
photo(electro)chemical properties for N≡N and C-H bond activation. Our multidisciplinary team will
develop structure/function relations that determine the stability, efficiency and selectivity for the
proposed chemistries, which will provide guidelines for the design and development of a powerful
platform for a wide range of reactions relevant to outstanding challenges, from sustainable energy to
environment remediation.
